about

For our fourth edition of "Untold Stories", a series where we feature new remixes and interpretations of our back-catalogue, we invited a few very special producers from our home country - India, all making their debut appearance on the label. Please welcome Dharmalogy, Midnight Traffic, Nosh & SJ and Ninesh Babu.

Kicking the release off is Dharmalogy, from Kolkata (India), who decided to rework Subandrio's "Lost Soul". With 2 releases on Hernan Cattaneo's "Sudbeat" & a feature in his Balance Series compilation, along with more than 100 tracks & remixes under other esteemed labels through the years, Subandrio - Sri Lanka's most prized export, has gone from strength to strength with every production he lays his hands on. His association with us stemmed back in 2016 through his debut appearance via an EP called "Lost in Sigirya" EP, made as an ode to his beloved country, where "Lost Soul" first got it's breath of life along with a twisted remix by Vlada D'Shake. It now gets a fresh take from Dharmalogy, an elusive artist who selectively puts out his best work. Dharamalogy's limited discography boasts quality over quantity, with solo & collaborative releases on Darin Epsilon's "Perspectives Digital", Sonic Union's "Lowbit Records", Tash's "Movement Recordings" & the famed "Bonzai Progressive". He continues the high-quality output streak by taking the reins of "Lost Soul" and heading towards the deeper-end, providing a timeless & classy remix where the additional elements, especially the piano riffs & funky bass motifs, elevate the mood of the original's memorable "flute" melody.

After releasing on Renaissance, Choo Choo Records & more in the past, Chris Cargo made a smashing return into the scene after a decade of silence and since his debut appearance with us through the track "Crystal" (part of 'Elements - Volume 2') in 2017, he's gone on to release music on Nick Warren's "The Soundgarden", Paul Thomas' "UV", DJ Zombi's "Beat Boutique", Pena's "Flow Vinyl" & John Johnson's "ICONYC" to name a few, as well as starting up his own imprint - 'If You Wait'. Stepping up to remix "Crystal" is Hyderabad (India) based - Midnight Traffic. Relatively new but with a strong slew of productions under his belt, namely his EPs on Qilla, a collaboration with Kohra on Brian Cid's "Endangered" and his recent single on Click Records' 'Click Loves India Compilation', Midnight Traffic's work has been slowly getting the recognition it deserves. For his remix of Chris Cargo's "Crystal", he swings his strength in creating infectious grooves and hits home. A warm yet chugging low-end, crisp percussive work and the right amount of counter-harmonies to play along with the original melodic riff makes this combination a match made in heaven.

Originally released alongside "Cold City", Monojoke's "Superficial" was a power-packed anthemic number that could easily be slotted in as a closing track of the night, a style that Monojoke is completely familiar with. His trademark lush, groovy & full sound has found a home in many underground imprints, highlighted by Antrim's "Or Two Strangers", Madloch's "Sound Avenue" and John 00 Fleming's "J00F Recordings". To remix "Superficial", we've called upon the fantastic prog duo from Mumbai (India) - Nosh & SJ, who've been steadily climbing the global progressive circuit after their landmark release on Nikko.Z's "Dopamine Music" in 2018. Since then, they've gone on to release EPs & remixes on Sonic Union's "Lowbit", Ziger's "Eat My Hat", Erich Von Kollar's "Stellar Fountain" + "Astrowave" and Milos Miladinovic's "Balkan Connection", earning spots on many DJs playlists & charts. Nosh & SJ's stripped down remix of "Superficial" aims straight for the dancefloor with the focus primarily on the groove and a seranade to the heart of the original during the breakdown.

Closing the pack is Ninesh Babu, a Kerala native from Thrissur (India), currently based in Dubai (UAE), who's been pushing the progressive sound since 2009. His earlier work was heavily supported by Jaytech, Markus Schulz, Max Graham & many more, with releases on Alexey Sonar's "Intricate" as well as the famed LA-based imprint "Silk Music" while his current evolution in sound lead him to have releases on Framewerk's "Capital Heaven" and D-Formation's "BeatFreak Limited". Greg Tomaz, another Kerala native & core team member of Juicebox Music since his "Alchemic Substance" EP contribution in 2016, has seen his fair share of steady growth as a producer with productions on Jelly For The Babies' "One of A Kind", Julian Rodriguez's "Massive Harmony" & Nick Quadrat's "Clinique". "The Substance of Feeling", one of the 2-tracks from his debut EP with us, gets a 2020 treatment from Ninesh Babu, who goes straight for the jugular with a peak-time rumbling rework, cleverly using the original's speech & melodic content.
